SP=EED

A practical tool for effective community engagement

SP=EED (Scottish Planning = Effective Engagement and Delivery).

Please email or call us on 0131 220 9730 if you would like training in SP=EED.

SP=EED was published by Planning Aid for Scotland in the run-up to planning reform and is based on our experience and expertise in community engagement. It is designed to help you undertake and evaluate any public engagement process.

SP=EED recognises the challenges inherent in any planning consultation process and is:

  • targeted to help developers, planning consultants, local authorities, community organisations and members of the public;
  • designed to be used for any consultation process, including development plan consultations and pre-application consultation;
  • aware that different levels and types of consultation will be appropriate for different scenarios;
  • an evolving document, containing examples of good practice;
  • aimed at sharing good practice throughout the planning community in Scotland.

We are always interested to learn about your experiences in designing or taking part in community engagement.
