Primary school (age 8-11)

IMBY (In My Back Yard)

A project for primary school children. IMBY is a cartoon alien who engages primary 4 to 7 children to help them learn about their local area from a planning perspective - exploring the landscape and built environment, and how this is shaped. It encourages active citizenship by focusing on relevant issues, such as mobile phone masts, community gardens/allotments, shops and waste/recycling.

PAS has been liaising with Learning and Teaching Scotland (LTS) to ensure that the IMBY programme complements the Scottish Government’s Curriculum For Excellence.

In March 2011, Learning and Teaching Scotland showcased the IMBY programme as an ‘Inspiring Practice’ example of engaging young people as active citizens in Scotland.
