Stefano Smith, Regional Development Director for Planning & Environment at Halcrow Group
The modernisation of Scotland’s planning system has called for all stakeholders within the system to consider how they could change the ways they relate to each other, their expectations and the ways they communicate their issues and concerns. A more inclusive planning system requires greater transparency and fairness to deliver genuine community benefits.
Stefano Smith will reflect on his experiences of leading and managing planning proposals classed as major applications under the hierarchy of developments and therefore requiring statutory consultation. Discussion will also consider the recently approved ‘Edinburgh Planning Concordat’ prepared by the City of Edinburgh Council/Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce which outlines a step by step process and responsibilities in progressing major planning applications.
